Thank you very much for writing something for me. I want to say first of all that if you have a strong idea about what you want to write, please feel free to run with it! I have tried to give some general ideas of things that I think might be cool for the stories, but for the most part I'm pretty open to interpretations. I'm okay with any rating, I don't have any real squicks or triggers. I like things that are scary and creepy and straight up horrific, but I also like things that a cute or funny or fluffy (though I'm not sure if any of the songs I picked really lean that way). I don't need happy endings, but I do enjoy them. If you have different ideas though, lemme have 'em! I like character introspection, I like world building, I like plot. I like porn, but I prefer plot to go with it I don't know if any of these really lend themselves to porn, but if you think differently, lemme have it! Really, go wild! I'm pretty easy to please! Also, I am super into the idea of crossovers between any of the songs I'm requesting - I think some of them could go together pretty interestingly, so if there's an idea that strikes you along those lines please have at.

I am really excited for this fest, possibly more than is rational. I have a longstanding love of folk music and other forms of ballads and song-stories, and I like thinking about what we don't know as much as what we do. Write what you want, what inspires you, and hopefully what is below has some good ideas if you're feeling lost!

It you are a podficer or a podfic team - I'm super excited, as this is the first time I've requested podfic for an exchange, and I think the rules this year are really interesting! I think writing a story you know is destined for an aural medium is a cool challenge, and I know the recording of a podfic can be pretty challenging itself, so major props for offering! In this case, since the canon is also aural I think it is an especially interesting pairing! I am a big fan of podcasted/podficed short fiction, but I don't know if I can give any specific likes/dislikes /o\

I am requesting Fanfic or Podfic for all requests (but treats in any media would be a delight).

Since I seem to be on something of a posting spree over here...

1. Your 3 fanfics with the most comments:
Top by comments is not a fic, but rather the Interactive Fiction game I wrote for Yuletide 2014: Expanded Horizons - #yuletide RPF

My top actual fic is also #yuletide rpf, from Yuletide 2010: The Doom of the Hippos.

Second is from the Fans and Fan-Byproducts exchange from 2013: Tamika Flynn: Librarian Hunter. Welcome to Night Vale. This is the fic of mine that gets the most regular attention, despite being thoroughly jossed.

Third (by comment threads, anyway) is a drabble I wrote for Yuletide Madness 2009: Indiana Jones and the Profile of Soil which is an Indiana Jones archaeology story, clearly.

2. Your 3 fanfics with the most kudos:
...are all for Night Vale, huh. I kind of rode the wave in on that one, posting a number of things just as it was getting big. That said, while these are all big for me, they're not big at all for the fandom.

First is Seductive Tendrils, which is explicit Cecil/Carlos tentacle and hair play.

Second is Tamika Flynn: Librarian Hunter again

Third is another drabble! A Difficult Matter which is about Khoshekh.

3. Your oldest fanfic:
On AO3: The New Game. Fall of Ile Rien casefic starring Gerard and Nicholas.

On the broader internet? Uh. Starting here with chapter three when I took over the character from someone else. I'm not sure it can even be read in a logical order anymore, since the time line seems to be gone.

4. Your latest fanfic:
Is a drabble that I don't think quite works how I wanted it to, about how the First Order gets its stormtroopers. Star Wars, clearly, and based on the new movie: When They Come

5. Your proudest fanfic:
The one I'm most proud of? Man, that's a tough call. I really have no idea how to rate them. I could give a list of ones I am proud of and still pleased with and why but that's not what the meme is asking for. Maybe if someone else asks for it ;p

6. Your longest fanfic:
Longest complete fic: Seasons (Adventure World, Vedran Callais/OMC, pre-canon)

7. Your 3 fanfics with the most bookmarks:
Some repeats, unsurprisingly:
Seductive Tendrils (which has 7 invisible bookmarks, because porn)
Tamika Flynn: Librarian Hunter

And the third is one that would be on my theoretical list for #5: Unforgettable. Another Yuletide Treat, this time in Neil Gaiman's American Gods. Hermes/Original Female Character. I'm really proud of the character I created here, of how I did Hermes, of how I integrated the Greek gods, and the way I pulled in real life setting details in the same way the book did.

8. Your top 3 crossover fics:
Uh, do I have three crossovers? I must... they're probably all crack. Oh I do- I have five! And only two of the top ones are crack!

Puppy of Interest: Hannibal/Person of Interest.

(The) Dreaming: Inception/Sandman Comics (drabble).

This is Blue's Design: Hannibal/Blue's Clues.

9. My favourite characters to write:
I have no idea how to pick! It varies a lot. Whoever is loudest in my head, I guess? I like writing for RPG characters for that reason, and also because it helps me learn a lot about them.

The Call

She woke with a power alive inside her.

At first she thought it was her power.

Walking alone, in the park under the moon, along an empty street under yellow-orange street lamps, she raised her arms.

"Come to me," she called.

She could still feel it, coiling in her chest.

Come to me

"Yes," she answered.

It expanded; she was claimed.

And that was my yuletide..... other than all the reading I've done in both collections! I wish I had more time as I'd have loved to make a proper recs post before reveals, but that doesn't seem to have happened :/ Maybe after? There are just so many great stories to chose from, though! I guess we'd better all get reading...

Dear Amazing Yuletide Author:

Thanks, first of all, for writing! That is really the most important thing, and I will be delighted with whatever I wind up getting. I am scamming most of this from my last year’s letter (including this line!), so hopefully it will retain some amount of coherency.

So first of all.... Generally speaking, I like stories that tell me a little bit more about the characters or the world they live in. I like stories with plot - with adventure, intrigue, and wacky hijinks. I also like stories that are more focused on character exploration – I don't need action if I have interesting introspection. I like both insider and outsider PoV stuff, and I feel like it is perfectly legit to write a story about a character that isn't from their perspective. I enjoy stories that are very emotionally intense, whether that means they are spilling over with ~feels~ or dark and unrelenting in tone – I enjoy horror, especially psychological horror, but also feel-good fluff.

I like porn, but I do not require it. If you have a preference for or against in whatever you wind up writing, knock yourself out, I will appreciate it. If you include porn, I prefer it to be somehow relevant to the story – either it develops character relationships, or is vital to some zany caper or what have you. I’m not a big fan of pwp, though I think porn can certainly *be* the main action, so to speak, as long as it is showing me something new about characters or their relationship. I'm really hard to squick, so don't be afraid to show me your kinks! More than anything, when it comes (heh) to porn I want to be able to believe that the sex I'm reading is in character for whoever I'm reading about – not necessarily that it is something they want, but that the reactions I'm reading are true to whoever is having them, if that makes any sense.

If you are looking to find out more about me, I have a more mundane and fairly neglected lj/dw over at [personal profile] elanya, and I am I am often online in the yuletide chat (which you can find out how to access here), either as Lanabout, hippo-Lan, or some other similar configuration of Lan- somethingorother. I am also Measured_Words on AO3 :)

On to the specifics! Please note that these are in no meaningful order. Also, Optional Details are Optional - I hope these will give you some ideas if you need them, and some helpful insights into what I love about the canons and the characters, but if you have other ideas I haven't thought of feel free to run with them as well :D

Remember back in (*mumblety*) when I did my last alphabet drabble challenge? Well - I finally finished it today, woohoo!

You can see the finished drabbles on Dreamwidth or on Livejournal! I'll be crossposting them to AO3 as well. So, if you happened to be subscribed, uh - brace yourself, I guess >.>

And having finished that one... Well it would probably be silly of me to start a new one, having just got a trope bingo card I haven't started on. But I'm going to do it anyway! If you haven't played before - give me a prompt for an unclaimed letter of the alphabet (usually one or two words, always starting with that letter), a fandom, and a character and pairing, and I'll do what I can. You can see what fandoms I've played in before at AO3, but original prompts are fine as well. You can always ask if you want me to try a fandom I've not written in before as well :) Obviously, I make no promises as to how, uh, promptly they will get filled - but they *will* get filled!

Prompts will go below the cut, with links added once they are filled. )

I have been generally consumed by some Diablotin characters of late, and so I decided to focus entirely on them, or at least on one of them. The stories here should all be accessible, as it is all either pre-campaign/canon stuff (so background that is established here and not anywhere else), or alternative universe. The setting is what miiiight make is not accessible, I guess, to others. But feel free to give 'em a shot and let me know what you think!

TA DAHHHHHHH!

Yuuuuletiiiiiiiiide!

So! I actually managed to write a fair amount this year – more than I'd expected, in any case! I got extra betas for everything, but as usual [personal profile] curtana provided constant encouragement, handholding, and initial SPAG assessment. Well, for almost everything....

Assignment: Return to Night, Since We Must Part, Drown Night for Naraht )

After finishing that beast, I actually managed to score two(!) pinch hits! I didn't know the recips in either case there, so there was somewhat less pressure. I am quite happy with both stories.

Pinch Hit #1: Arkham Horror – Encounters at the Witch House for barometry )

Pinch Hit #2: Othello – Girl Talk for afewreelthoughts )

Treat #1: Books of the Raksura – Claimed, for Nary )

Madness Treat #1: MST3K/Ghost Soup Infidel Red – Robots Crying on Beds for Elfwreck )

Madness Treat #2; Drabble #1: Arkham Horror – Sweet Harmony for Lirillith )

Madness Treat #3; Drabble #2: Hark! A Vagrant! – Infidelity for afterism )

And that was my yuletide! I kind of feel like there may have been something else, but it has been completely wiped from my mind...

I'll never read as much as I want before reveals, but 'm glad I'd had as much time as I have this year to poke around :) I was going to dividing this again into things I've come across myself vs things I've read because they were recced, but honestly i have lost track at this point -_- There are definitively reccs of both kinds in here though!

Recs! )
measured_words: (type)
I am always so excited and delighted with the things that Yuletide produces!

This year I got two gifts - one in each collection. Both are character sketches of Shirley Wilson from In The Flesh. I knew I could trust the rest of the fandom to ask for lots of fic for the main characters/pairings, but I am a lover of minor characters, and I love Shirley. She's so earnest and well intentioned even if she is not always the absolutely most competent.

Anyway! My gifts! )

-----

I also have a pile of other recs I've accumulated - I am going to group them into two sections: one that are fics I have stumbled across on my own or have been recced to me informally, and then a second batch that are re-recs I've found from more formal sources (recs posts, the recs collection, and such) but that I endorse completely!

Group one - Independently Discovered awesomeness! )

Group two - Rec Corroborations! )
