Dear Invisible Ficcer!

Dear Invisible ficcer!

Thank you for writing me a story! I am am certain I will love it, and I want to reassure you that optional details are options. These are just a few ideas of things I would like to see - they are meant to help you, and if you have a better idea, please go ahead and write it! There aren't a lot of things I'm terribly offended by in fic, so please don't worry about offending or squicking me. I like all kinds of relationships - het, slash, femslash, and other and with a few exceptions I don't have any strong pairing attachments for these fandoms. If you want to write dirty kinky porn, have at! If you're way more comfortable in the gen world - have at! I happily read and appreciate fics of all ratings, and I won't judge you for writing what you're comfortable with. In longer stories, I do prefer that porn be *part of* a story rather than it's main focus, but since the minimum word count for this is only 500 words, I realize that can be a tall order, so all I ask is that the characters be as convincing as they can while they're getting it on.

And now - onto the requests!

1. Conan the Librarian (1989):

This movie is so hilarious!

I love the bits where the hapless library users just have no idea what they're getting into! This film is a bit dated now, but I'd love to see how a modern day Conan dealt with modern day library disturbances - people looking at porn on the computers, people passing them disgusting germy smart phones, putting DVDs and CDs in the book drop to get crushed - all that sort of stuff. If you want to get a little deeper into library life and having him deal with higher level (heh) frustrations like... budget cuts and boards of directors and all that nightmarish nonsense, or the questionable categories in the Library of Congress classifications, I'd totally be game for that as well! I'd also be happy with stuff more in line with what we see in the movie, like people making out in the stacks, bringing back books that have been damaged/underlined, etc.

Full disclosure - I am not a librarian, but I know many of them very well.

2. The King in Yellow
What fascinates me the most about this play - and there are *so many* things to choose from! - is the deep connection of place and person. The King is Carcosa. He is Hali, He is Aldebaran, He is Hastur, His are the Mysteries of the Hyades. The King in his tatters encompasses so much that it becomes incomprehensible to the mere human mind - those who try to grasp his secrets develop a poisonous madness, and they dash themselves and those they love against the enervating landscape of Carcosa. The Mask is another manifestation of this connection, of course, and anything you write about it would be most welcome.

I would love to see something that explores these ties, that tackles other ways that they manifest. If you want to use any of the established characters, I am also fascinated by Cassilda's innocence, and how it simultaneously protects and dooms her.

3. Sex Girl Patrol

Okay so.... Sex Girl Patrol. Pretty much writes itself doens't it? You can give me a missing scene from the movie, or just tell me about some other wacky hijinks that the patrol girls get into. Is someone trying to enforce abstinence only? Did Sex Boy get kidnapped again? Is there some kind of tensions between the girls that they need to work out somehow (i.e. with sex)? The patrol has to defeat a tentacle beast?

This movie is, admittedly very male-gaze-y, and I love it both ironically and unironically, so if you want to play it "straight" so to speak, that's great, and if you want to be more subversive and write the patrol as a little more 'sex-positive feminists' and less 'slutty girls make everything better', I'm game either way! Mostly I just want sexy sci-fi lady hijinks!

While this fandom is certainly very porn friendly, if that's not your bag, I won't be disappointed if you want to take the fade-to-black route, or keep things super cheeky but not explicit the way they do for most of the film.

4. The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your House: An Autobiography

It's not that the Faceless Old Woman is an unreliable narrator - we're just unreliable readers. She can't trust us - not to understand what's written, and certainly not to handle the truth. I know a lot of people find this book to be completely incoherent, even if they manage to sift through the jumpy chronology, but I am prepared to accept that she just doesn't experience time the same way we do. I mean - she does tell us as much!

Still, there is so much that's hinted at here that I would love to see some speculation about. It can't be anything *but* fiction - some truths really are just unknowable. But I'd like to see something about how how she adjusted to being faceless (there are hints, especially in the sixth chapter, that she hasn't always been). Did she consider it a fair trade for her particular form of transdimensional immortality? Or tell me more about the bees - is this a metaphor? Is she some kind of hive mind entity, watching us all as she does? Or does she just like bees? If you want to explore some of the more mundane aspects of her life, the sort of stuff she is always complaining about both in the book and elsewhere, about the various annoyances of living with any of us. Alternately, if you want to take something that she talks about and write it from another perspective, that could also be very interesting!

Obviously I only have the copy from my house, and I'm sure yours is different, so feel free to pick another jumping off point if there is something inspiring that I haven't mentioned. It might just be that I don't know about it (yet)!

5. Fox Force Five

Ahhh, teamwork! All ladies, all the time! Being super awesome superspies!

Damn, I really wish there was more of this show - I guess it is a good thing there is fanfic!

The premise of the show was suuuuuper tropey, with everyone in their assigned roles. I loved the pilot, but I always wondered if it was sustainable over the long term, and how much depth they would have developed - anything you want to do to give them a little more meat would be great, whether you want to focus on one of the foxes or do a little snippet of the team as a whole. Maybe a training session, knives versus martial arts? Maybe either of those girls with their mentors? The pilot jumps into things with the team already formed, but how were they foxes recruited? The nature of the agency they work for is a secret in the pilot, so maybe there is something to explore there? Maybe sides aren't as clearcut as they seem?

If I have to pick a favourite fox, I'd probably have to go with Hanako - I have a thing for female martial artists, I admit it. I reallly wanted to like Raven better, but to be honest the actress always seemed a pretty stoned in her scenes, and that killed it for me. If you think you can write her better though, have at!

6. Ghost Soup Infidel Blue

Okay, I'm going to be upfront here. I will give you some alternate prompts, because that is the Done Thing. But really if we match on Ghost Soup and you *don't* write me this, I want you to know that however polite my reply, I will secretly hate you forever.

I want a story where the Amalgamation are trying to kidnap Josh because of his mad engineering skills, and Ryan saves him, and then they fuck.

I don't think I'm asking for too much - that is probably a rehash of like 20% of the episodes anyway, I just really like it, okay? It doesn't have to be extensive - you can focus on any one of those three elements - the kidnapping, the rescue, or the sex, as long as the other two are at least implied to have happened. Or that they will happen, whatever.

And then to be in the spirit of things, and noting again that if you write me one of these I *will* secretly hate you forever, have some other half-assed prompt ideas: Ryan finds some kind of secret Amalgamation maguffin and brings it to Ryan to figure it out/crack its code/whatever. Ryan gets kidnapped by the Amalgamation, Josh has to rescue him. Ryan and Josh and the rest of the crew team up with The Amalgamation in an uneasy truce to fight something worse. Whatever. Remember: I will secretly hate you forever.
