I guess I was mainly confused because I thought Daniel had long ago recognized that Anna might not trust him, might have allied herself with the Garou, etc. I even have a hazy recollection of him thinking that she probably had friends/supporters there when he met her at the gardens the first time, though maybe I'm misremembering.
