I was so spoiled this go around. I got SIX (6!!!!)gifts and they were all fantastic. I wrote three, two of which were for Nary (one shared with longpig), who was my official recip, and one for a stranger who requested a couple of OW prompts I'd submitted :x This was partly, I admit, a decoy story, but I am really proud of how it turned out and also that it really resonated with the recip :3

Three of my gifts were new She-ra, one was an Original Work, one was New Trek, and he last was a Diablotin/Adventure World crossover :V

So, yes, this was the year/exchange where Nary, Longpig, and I finally decided to see what happened if we nominated Diablotin. And I matched on her. And she wrote me and Longpig each a treat to make sure that it would be represented in the exchange :x So in the end there were four! which meant that they really dind't get much feedback outside of our little circle, so it was a low-feedback exchange. But the comments I did get were lovely and did I mention - 6 awesome gifts!?!

The things I wrote were pretty niche I guess :x )

I have been Sick as Heck, so I am not going to have time to do a proper recs post this year, but I did want to take time to call out my three lovely gifts! All are in Murderbot :3

Two were written to basically the same prompt, but went in different directions with it. The first is more about Murderbot being in fandom and participating in an exchange - the second story has Murderbot get roped into *running* one - plus space pirates! They both have some great meta commentary about fandom in them though, and I liked them both immensely.

Sanctuaryfest (1653 words)

The Exchange (5814 words)

The third fic is the tale of how and why Murderbot hacks it's governor module, and it is really great and really captured the feel of the book I think. And also it has an amazing summary. I will have summary envy forever.

Terra Nova (7748 words)

-So basically I was very spoiled this yuletide and had all my Murderbot desires fulfilled and then some <3

I was honored with three! Thery are all excellent and I love them! Two of them were very last minute additions, the last of twhich literally appered in the ten minutes before the collection closed and I'd left work :V

Mama Loi Papa Loi - Exuma (Song) (Share wasn't enabled on this one)

-I finally got a fic for Mama Loi, Papa Loi! VICTORY :V And it is cool, too - it is set in London, and it is about a little girl whose parents are dead, but who has a caretaker and a mysterious benefctor uncle...

Summary:

Yas Delit is a composer who enjoys the patronage of the King.

Trouble is, she is a revolutionary at heart.

-This one is all about revolution and political dissent through music. I liked the main character a lot, probably because of her resentment and her efforts to undermine the society she feels shackled to.

Quest's End

Brun - Garmarna (Song) (share also not on this one... hmmm, interesting! I now have Additional Suspicions...)

-This is a reaaaaaaally interesting take on this song, where not only does the maiden manage to get the better of Brun, the man who was going to murder her as he had several others, but their contest is part of a much longer epic. Her role, if not less passive, exactly, is more premeditated. It has a really great atmosphere, and as much as I love the others, I think this one hist the most of my buttons. I was positively *spoiled* this year, all told - and the collection is full of other excellent stories as well! YOu shoudl go check them out!

And that was my yuletide..... other than all the reading I've done in both collections! I wish I had more time as I'd have loved to make a proper recs post before reveals, but that doesn't seem to have happened :/ Maybe after? There are just so many great stories to chose from, though! I guess we'd better all get reading...

Jukebox is open - it has been for a while, and author reveals are tomorrow I think! This is really one of my favourite exchanges - reading through everything is like reading through a themed anthology, and there are so many really good fascinating stories to get through! I could probably narrow down a top 5 (or 10 >.>) if I tried *really hard*!

I will talk about the things I wrote once reveals go live, but for now I will squee about my story! :D :D :D

I finally got my Invisible Light fic! And it is wonderfully creepy and I love it! It seems like it could be creepy in a very mundane way.... but maybe not. It made me think a little bit of like... Patricia Highsmith meets Neil Gaiman, maybe ^_^ I am super pleased with it!

On top of that, there were several songs that other people got stories for that either I had nominated or requested or both, so I feel like I kind of made out like a bandit just on those alone! And then there are just so many really cool stories based on things I barely knew at all before this... And there are playlists to listen to and a table of songs and lyrics and all sorts of other things that just make it a fantastic experience all around. A++ would recommend to anyone! I think I will try and pimp it harder next year, but we'll see :)

I feel like I have not had a chance to be properly excited about Yuletide this year - I'm travelling, visiting a house full of toddlers where I don't have a room of my own to hide in, so I haven't had as much time to read around, and had to furtively read all (!!! So many!) my gifts furtively while everyone else was distracted. And they I got horribly ill, because toddlers. But I am feeling better now (though the toddlers are sick)! And I got So many!!! delightful stories that I need to share them :D And then I can get on with trying to do some other reading :)
