Sorting through his twin's clothes brought Alain closer than he'd felt in a long time to falling down the same hole as his father. He felt shut out of the world for days. Not even work provided a distraction from the emptiness he'd felt since losing Georges.
Mikel stopping by was a surprise – Alain almost sent him away, but he'd always been close with Patric's kids, and anyway he didn't have the energy. The idea Mikel pitched was worth considering. Nothing could fill Georges' place, but it might be good to have a few more people in his world again.
